R&M Yarns is located in the beautiful little community of Georgetown,
Tennessee, just 25 miles north of Chattanooga and 70 miles south of
Knoxville. We're 8.2 miles off Interstate 75 on State Highway 60
(see
map).
The business was started in 1978 by the late Mr. Weldon
Williamson of Georgia. In 2005, Phyllis Narus purchased R&M Yarns and moved
it to Cleveland, Tennessee. In November of
2008, a new building was constructed in Georgetown, Tennessee (just 5
miles from the Cleveland location) and the business moved once again.
The new facility houses the showroom, offices, a fiber art studio for
teaching classes, and a warehouse.
The majority of R&M's yarn selections continue to be on
cones which are a must for the many weavers and machine knitters that we
supply. With the closing of yarn manufacturing plants and dye
houses, "mill ends" and "odd lot" yarns are a challenge to find, but we
still carry several selections in wool, cotton, rayon, acrylic,
chenille and some novelty blends.
We continue to "regularly stock" several sizes of 100%
New Zealand wool (primarily natural/undyed), Natural Cotton in several
sizes, including Mop Cotton and warp yarns. We're proud to offer
"ring-spun" cotton in several sizes including "Flake/Slub."
Because of our growing number of hand knitters and crocheters (mostly
walk-ins), we now carry "skeined" yarns and accessories.

are our most recent additions. We also carry
"Brown Sheep,"
"Kertzer"
& "Cascade"
yarns as well as
knitting needles & accessories from "ChiaoGoo"
& namaste.

anything you see on their

We are proud to be a dealer
of Schacht
Weaving and Spinning equipment built right here in the United
States....Boulder, Colorado. We stock several shuttles, bobbins,
and smaller items. Of course, we can order anything you see on
their website. Larger orders (i.e. looms, wheels) can be drop
shipped to you from Colorado.
As well as
supplying quality yarns, we also offer
classes in various fiber arts. There are "Sit-n-Stitch"
sessions from 10am to Noon on Wednesdays.
We stock the latest fiber
magazines and books;
back issues of magazines are discounted.
